Buckberry Lodge

Buckberry Lodge is a 5 BR/ 4.5 bath log cabin set in a lush landscape of perennials and native rhododendrons. This home has three levels and is perfect for one couple, or sharing with friends or extended family. The main level offers: fully equipped kitchen which is open to the ‘Old Hickory’ dining area. The two story living area has a wood-burning fireplace, Cable TV, VHS/DVD with plenty of comfortable gathering spaces. Screened dining porch and open deck with stainless gas grill. Mst. BR (Queen) has a private screened porch and large bathroom with shower and jetted tub. There’s a half bath just off the entry foyer. The upper level has a full bath in the loft area between the guest bedrooms. (2 twins, Queen) The lower level has a family room with wood burning fireplace, billiard table and accessories, small TV/VHS. The lower deck has porch swings and other seating and is accessible from the family room and both lower guest bedrooms (Queens in each BR- one has a private bath, and the other shares a hallway bath). The laundry area is on the lower level. Large backyard area with a small trail that ends up at a nice cool creek. Buckberry Falls is a small area tucked away, yet convenient to shopping, restaurants, hospital, hiking, and more. Main Street Highlands (about 4 miles) and Cashiers (about 10 miles).

NO Pets and NO smoking.

This home has a three- night minimum, except for HOLIDAYS AND SOME LOCAL EVENTS.

  We rented this house to attend a family reunion. It was perfect for our group as each family had their own floor for bedrooms and baths. The checkin process was easy. The rental office was not far from the house , which was convenient. The house was clean upon arrival . Communication with the rental office was great - very responsive to questions or concerns. Very quiet location. Check out instructions were minimal with easy key drop off. Only complaint is that there is no trash service at the house. Although the transfer station (convenience center) is close by, we had to make a run every day to get rid of trash and recycle. Otherwise, a great stay and perfect for a large group. Would recommend staying here if you are in the beautiful Highlands area.

  Our 16 year old grandson, Heydan, said it best "Nana, this is the best house ever. Plenty of room as described, location was great as we played golf and took in activities at the beautiful Old Edwards Club and The Saddle at Glen Cove. Great customer service as we did not know how to program the AC (it was a new unit and required Blue Tooth) but Mr. Chambers came over and took care of the only issue that we had. We will be back at Thanksgiving!!!Thank you!

  My family had a wonderful time staying at 170 Buckberry Road. The house was clean and plenty big for our group of seven. Further, the location was perfect as it was between Highlands and Cashiers, and near several great hiking trails and waterfalls. We did not encounter any problems during our stay.   Large house on 3 floors...perfect for a large family. In my case there was my wife and myself, and two daughters and there family...we all had our own floor! The kitchen had everything you need to prepare a large meal. The property was close to town and secluded. Abundant things to do; shopping, zip lining, sight seeing...there are numerous waterfalls nearby and in our case a slope for sledding. On the down side the house is drafty and groceries are expensive. We missed the colors of fall but I would not hesitate to book the property again.

  The house was great. Loved the open wood beams, the location, the privacy, etc. It was a great house and a great stay. The one thing I should mention is the neighbor said the bears can reach through the structure surrounding the trash receptacles and they can open the lid and get trash out and strewn around the property. We were going to put our trash in the bins until we heard that. Plus, the cans were full from previous guests. We packed our trash and recycling out when we left but there is still trash in the cans.

  We loved the locatin of the house as well as the well laid out floorpan.. I only would suggest that lighting is poor and LR need larger lamps with higher wattage bulbs.. Also bedrooms lamps should be large Enough and bright enough to see if one wants to read. Kitchen well supplied. Some maintence needed. But all in all, I'd go there again.   This cabin was exactly the 'cabin feel' we wanted. The cabin was spacious and cozy (though a few more throw blankets wouldn't hurt)! We loved the nature all around it, and the secluded yet close to town location. The town is adorable, full of small shops and restaurants.
  
  My gripe is that it was not clean upon arrival. We had been approved for early check in at 2:00 and the place hadn't been touched when we got there. We called and the cleaning crew came right away, but they were not finished until nearly 5 - an hour after the original check in time. They did a good job cleaning, I just wish it would have been done on time.

  This was our second year at this property. Last year generally, all was well. However, there were problems with appliances. (Dishwasher and Freezer) This year, same problems, in fact the ice maker leaked enough that the ceiling in washer room collapsed. The dishwasher stopped working on the second day. Water service to home had to be turned off until repairs were made. These things did not ruin our trip to Highlands, but they sure did't make it any better. Tucker mentioned that some "adjustment" would be made. I feel that would be a nice gesture, I leave the amount up to you. We like the home very and would probably return. Maybe it is time for some new kitchen appliances. John McElvey
