Hidden Hollow- An adorable cottage within walking distance to town for shopping, dining, galleries, churches, tennis, public pool, nature trails and more. Here, you have end of the road privacy, but are not secluded- very convenient.

This home could easily pass as a three bedroom home- the open loft serves as the 3rd bedroom, and shares the upstairs bathroom. The great room offers an impressive floor to ceiling gas log fireplace, beautiful hardwood floors, Cable TV with DVD, open kitchen, and dining area. Covered porch is a nice escape and overlooks the beautiful lush forest and stream- you would never believe you are just one block to town. Gas grill located just off porch. The Mst BR has a King bed and private bath with jetted tub, the loft area has a trundle bed, the guest BR has a queen bed and private bath. There is a half bath off the great room, and the laundry area is just off the kitchen. This home has central heat and air conditioning, and even though it's small - it "lives large" with all the separate living spaces available.
No Smoking. Only small dogs will be considered This home has WiFi.

This home has a three- night minimum, except for HOLIDAYS AND SOME LOCAL EVENTS.
The rental app you are using may allow you to make two or three-night rentals during these times, but that doesn't mean the reservation will be honored.
******IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT YOUR RESERVATION******

When you book your reservation through VRBO/Homeaway, the Property Manager handling this property will be notified by VRBO/Homeaway that a reservation has been made.
You will be asked to enter your credit card information, but you will not be charged for your reservation at this time. You WILL be charged a nominal service fee by VRBO/Homeaway. The fee is between you and VRBO/Homeaway; the property manager has nothing to do with the fee.
After the property manager has been notified of your reservation, you can rest assured this property is being held for you. You are booked.
The property manager will email you a lease. The lease will need to be reviewed, signed and returned to the property manager. If you haven’t received a lease within 72 hours it could be because the property manager/rental office is closed. (Operating hours are Mon-Fri 10-4) OR you may need to check your SPAM folder. Your lease will have options- usually the price you pay will be less than what is shown because all the options are listed.
The property manager/rental office for this property is a small-town business and we’ve been renting properties for over 30 years. We use VRBO/Homeaway for rental leads/reservations. A portion of your rental proceeds goes to VRBO/Homeaway for their service.

  The sheets on the master bed were worn thin and pulled. The jetted tub when turned on produced black mold coming out of the jets. The sofa table/ chest in front of the couch was broken and the wood top was just laying on top and came flying off. Needs to be glued down. Other then that it was a lovely place to stay.

  We really enjoyed our Labor Day wedding weekend here. We were able to walk to shops and dinner in 10 minutes, enjoy peaceful mornings on the patio and enjoy home cooked meals with a stocked appliance kitchen.

  We had a great experinece at Hidden Hollow. The home was even more beautiful than the pictures could capture. There are trails right from the house that lead to the Rec center and down to a beautiful creek. It is always walking distance to everything in downtown highlands, which was key! The kitchen is well equipped with pots/pans/dishes, etc but they do not provide any salt/pepper/EVOO/butter, etc, so be sure to bring your own spices and basics if you are cooking. We were right at home and had a wonderful stay.

  This house should NOT be rented until a myriad of issues are resolved!!! These issues I later learned ....date back a few years. The property HAS to have installed an entire house dehumidifier system that drains to the outside of the house. The house also needs screens through out. You cannot open a single window or door to get fresh mountain air which is the entire reason to rent in Highlands in the summer months. The TV did not work. The vacuum did not work! The electric fireplace did not work! The laundry sink leaked and the washer gasket was full of mold. The living room TV was tiny and did not work. . The porch furniture should have been junked 20 years ago. After a heavy rain, you could not get to the front door from your your parking place without ruining your shoes. The road/ street to the house is gravel and full of potholes. One door bottom was completely rotted out exposing a small hole into master bedroom. ALL BED LINENS AND towels need replacing immediately. The dresser and nightstands in the master were practically cardboard. We started calling for help after we were in the house for an hour. We got no help and no hope of help fixing anything. We had to empty the small dehumidifier every three hours....when we were there. I cannot imagine being more disappointed. Why an agency would rent this property is beyond my imagination. Agency offered no help or refund. We left early and would have left the first day if we had not invited guests who were driving 8 hours to be with us the second day.We had them bring their own sheets, blankets pillows and towels. Don’t even think about renting this property!

  The property is in an excellent, walkable location near the main strip, which we thoroughly enjoyed. However, the home itself is in significant need of both interior and exterior repairs. Upon entering, we were immediately overwhelmed by a strong musty smell, likely due to the wooded surroundings and persistent moisture issues. To make matters worse, we found a dead mouse in the main living upon arrival, which was extremely off-putting.
  
  The mustiness triggered a severe allergic reaction for me, making it difficult to enjoy our stay while we needed to be there, it was so bad our friends who joined left a day early. While there is a dehumidifier available, it required constant monitoring and emptying to manage the damp conditions. Despite the lease paperwork indicating a pre-arrival inspection, we later learned the property had last been cleaned/ inspected since six days prior to our check-in. Communication with the property manager came after one phone call and a second email. They did refund the cleaning fee though, which I appreciated.
  
  The exterior of the home is visibly affected by wood rot, and while the large windows provide great views, the lack of window coverings presents a privacy issue that some may not enjoy. We had to hang towels in the upstairs bedroom window and noticed passersby on the path beside the house could see into the downstairs restroom and anyone can see through the front of the home.
  
  While the location and potential of this property are great, the condition of the home and the lack of attention to detail were disappointing. We visit Highlands at least once per year and wanted to love this property, but unfortunately, it fell short of expectations, starting from our initial interactions with the reservationist when I emailed questions about the lease they were curt and left a lot to be desired from a customer service perspective.

  For the most part, we were very happy with our stay at this rental house. The accommodations were great, the vicinity was the best, and the decorations were awesome!
  
  The place did smell as though it had been empty for quite some time. There were cobwebs in several places, dust bunnies in the corners, and it just felt as though it had not been cleaned in a while.

  The location was good but there is a gravel driveway out of the small area that is probably 100 yards long and is hard to walk on - especially women with sandals. House was pretty clean but smells musty, I assume because of the stream nearby. Need to replace the bath wash cloths as they are stained. Shower was great in the master. Bed in master is comfortable. Very small TV in the family room. Hard to see.s

The cottage design, both exterior and interior are just what we enjoy when vacationing in the mountains. The 5-minute walk to town location is perfect too!

  Hidden Hollow is nestled in a great location just a few blocks from downtown Highlands. The location is outstanding. The interior design was well planned. All that said, the property needs better housekeeping and maintenance. The BBQ unit is filthy. Several areas of interior need better cleaning. Initially, the washer and dryer were not suitably maintained. To be fair, Chambers Realty somewhat improved the performance, The BBQ and washer and dryer need to be replaced. We could recommend property only if the specific above comments were fixed.

  We enjoyed our stay and the home truly was a walk to town. We had a little issue with flys, however, the rental agency was very quick to respond once notified. There were a few other minor repairs needed of which I'm sure will be done in a timely manner. All in all it was a nice home convenient to all amenities.

  Hidden Hollow is the perfect vacation home for a couple or small family. Downtown Highlands is just an easy walk away, but its location provides solitude with the sounds of Mill Creek in the background. The back porch is in the midst of the forest but a hiking trail is a few steps away.
